I have a funny for you:
I have been feeling sorry for myself lately...BUT in my defense I truly wake up everyday TRYING not to:) I know how lucky I am...I am very grateful for all that I have in life, and honestly I don't need to be reminded.
We are struggling...Scott has been out of work now since AUGUST...and still no worker's comp. Medical bills are piling up due to his injury and BCBS won't pay because it is a pending workers comp case. My medical bills had already been piling up. Saving are GONE...and we just don't klnow how we will do it all. Scott was pretty much 100% of our income. I now have a great job at a great bookstore, but as you would know that type of a job does not pay what Scott's job paid after 23 years of service.
With that being said...yesterday was black Friday. I stayed home and worked on orders...Christmas orders that are helping to pay the bills...tutus, dresses, super hero capes. I caught myself several times being really ticked that others were out shopping and I was not. I stewed about how I will not be able to do Christmas like I have in the past. I stewed about the gifts I wouldn't be able to get the kids. (Don't get me wrong...I know the reason for the season...but geez) I was MISSING ALL THOSE GREAT DEALS! I stewed most of the day...then I realized something REALLY FUNNY! I NEVER go shopping on Black Friday...I haven't gone shopping the day after Thanksgiving since my college days and that was a LONG time ago. I hate Black Friday shopping and all the crowds and the hype. I wouldn't have gone even if I had TONS of money! I really had to laugh at myself.
I was talking to Nate about it later and he said it obviously is just the idea that we can't that is the breaking point. After I settled down from stewing I had a great time finishing up some orders and moving on to the next. AND I thanked my lucky stars that I didn't get maced or knocked down or locked out of Walmart till Midnight (in Maine)...Yup, I missed all the great bargains, but there is always next year and rest assured you won't see me there then either!
It's good to laugh at yourself every now and again!
