and POOF there goes your Forsythia bush! Remember a couple of weeks ago I sent Nate and Cody out to TRIM the Forsythia bush...and we discovered that some of the branches were like tree trunks? Well here is the bush BEFORE they started "trimming it":
Beautiful really...but way to out of control...and honestly the thing is suppose to turn yellow in the spring and it hasn't in two years...so then:
and then it looked like this for the last two weeks:
Obviously still needed some work...and though you can't see it...on the back side it had about a gazillion other ones starting up and were simply wild. Now I have read that if you trim it waaaaaaaaaaay back it will grow again...lush and all. BUT I was a little chicken for that. AND THEN...Scott came home with a chain saw today (sent him on a few errands...none of which was to pick up a chain saw:)...and he and Nate set to work, with instructions to not take it down any shorter than they are:
and then...done:
I gotta tell you it looks so much better, now I will get in there and clean up all the leaves and dead branches, and hope it lives again in yellow next year.
NOW, after THAT was done...we noticed that this bush was VERY dead...but we couldn't see it in the past cuz the Forsythia was in the way...so out came that chain saw again:
and voila...a BIG hole were I need to plant something pretty:
So...can i say that I had musical rehearsal again tonight and I am frustrated. I have YET to have a full cast of Von Trapp kids on any of the nights that I have choreographed. Last night all of Cast B was there...but some of cast A was missing...tonight it was the opposite. It happens on music and reading nights too...AND sometimes it is MY kid who isn't there:) HOWEVER...the kids finished all of their dances tonight...except little stuff...and I have to say the little kids in "So Long, Farewell" are so stickin' cute! So really, you see...I am not frustrated...just get worried that things won't come together...this happens every summer cuz peoples schedules are crazy...so it is certainly understandable. One of the mom's said tonight..."so basically starting next week we might as well camp out here" YUP...it's that time, when it is a pretty much nightly event! It gets exhausting, but in the end it is all worth it!
And...remember this?
Well, I liked peoples ideas for it...mostly is was the whole keep it simply the way it is that worked for me. BUT it got redesigned the next day:
What have I said before? ALWAYS glue it down if you are in a house with kids and cats. This redesign was done by my very own 13 year old son...not on purpose, but GEEZ.
And speaking of him...he made ALLSTARS and their first game was last night. They lost 3-13...but doesn't he look handsome?
I heard tonight that my Aunt Dorraine's husband has just received word that he has cancer...sigh. I want them to know that they are in our hearts and our prayers...
AND last, but not least...still not feeling that great...but better. AND tonight was weigh in at weight watchers and I lost TWO pounds! I really did stay on program this week...until yesterday and today when I just didn't feel much like eating...so I didn't (that is EXTREMELY unusual for me:). I'll take those 2 pounds and run with them.
OH, and also on the home front...I THINK my lawn is finally mowed. I can't say for sure, as it was too dark when I got home. BUT I will let you know. Our lawn mower has been broken, and so the lawn had yet to be mowed this year...ICK.
That's it folks...gonna go rest my weary bones. Have a great 4th!
Sparkingly,
Denise
